My name is Brian Phillips. I’m a writer, publisher, thinker, and self-professed web expert. But my expertise isn’t technical, nor am I a designer. I struggled to set up this blog site, and tinkering with html and CSS is all I can manage, though I do dream of grander things.
Instead, my expertise is in the way people interact with the web. I’m a trained psychologist, but that’s more a symptom rather than the cause. The underlying factor is that I’m continually fascinated by what goes on inside people’s heads.
I’ve turned that fascination into a career. For the past ten years, I’ve been doing my utmost to understand, to influence, to explain, and to describe, all in such a way that it resonates with the way your brain actually works.
If you’re looking to label what I do, that label would be Content Strategy. It includes web writing, marketing, strategic planning, analysis and pretty much everything in between.
Recently, I’ve started an online publishing company, called Nimblewords Books. It might seem a huge change in direction, but it’s really the culmination of everything I’ve learned about the web, business, writing, and how people think. What’s more, it’s actually FUN.
Don’t get me wrong, though. This isn’t a company blog. It’s a personal one. I wanted a space where I could talk about anything I want. That may include publishing, but it will also include a bunch of stuff about the web, and may even include other things as well.
To begin with, I may post infrequently. I’ve got more than a full-time job taking up most of my time, so this has to take a back seat. Hopefully, when I free up some time, I’ll post more regularly.
And that will do. No-one really reads these About pages anyway, so good-day, and if you stick around for a bit, I hope you enjoy my site.
Brian.
