Hi. I'm Brian Phillips, writer. I write non-fiction for work (keeping websites of various sorts up to date) and fiction for fun. I've had dozens of short stories published in various media, and my first novel was recently published in electronic format. 

In this website, you'll find complete stories to read, my thoughts on writing for publication, partial chapters from my novels, and, of course, a little bit of information about me.

You'll also find something else. Many of you will know my novel, Tallander's Apprentice. In the original version, I included a chunk of text that defines how the magic of that world works.

That text doesn't appear in the published version, so for everyone who desperately needs to know, I've included it here. Enjoy.

Novel

Tallander’s Apprentice is my first novel. I’ve included the first chapter, a link to where you can purchase a copy, and an extract that very few people have ever seen.

Stories

As well as writing fantasy, I’ve dabbled in other genres. I’ve included one of my favourite mainstream stories here, as well as the very first fantasy story I managed to sell.

New Novel

I’ve recently finished my second novel. As I type this, I’m hunting for a print publisher willing to take the chance on a new novelist at the beginning of his career.
